The Next Generation of Mommies

MomsWe are grandmothers, mothers, wives, sisters, aunts, cousins, nieces, employees, employers, and leaders. While we can assume many roles, no role is as important as the role of mother. Our children enrich us, emotionally feed us, and keep us going until the last Christmas present is wrapped or lunchbox packed.

Today’s mother is a new generation of women who balance home life and work life. Some do so with grace and others do so with a bottle of wine. This may change by the day, week, or year. I personally have thought of myself as the good mommy and the bad mother at various times throughout any given day or week.

Like so many others, I struggle to find balance between my Mac, Blackberry, and my children. And while I may wonder what it might feel like to be a June Cleaver or Carol Brady, I know in my heart I would last for only a nanosecond. After all, I am a technomommy by trade and by choice.

I began this blog as an outlet and as a reminder to all technomommies.  That by today’s standards, we are in fact normal. We all struggle in our pursuit to find a holistic balance between family, friends, and work.  We, the new hybrid mothers, can find happiness within the confines and ongoing chaos of husbands, children, girlfriends, and work.

We are today’s mommy.
